It is interesting to note that in his letter entitled “On personhood” (TMIS, 7 August), Michael Asciak, while discussing IVF and the discarding of small clumps of cells (embryos) that is inherent to the process, states: “I do not ever wish to have that kind of human blood on my hands”, whereas as an MD he should know that these embryos don’t have any blood (or bones, or nerves, or brains, or anything else that makes a human being a human being).
