Vatican-minted Nonsense

Malta Independent Sunday, 14 August 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Had Michael Asciak not added his academic credentials to his signature, I would have mistaken his letter, “On personhood” (TMIS, 7 August), for a rant by some foetus-obsessed, bible-thumping religious fanatic, the type one finds demonstrating outside abortion clinics, harassing patients and threatening the medical staff.

Dr Asciak spares no effort to hijack the English language, and abuse science, in his endeavour to convince the readers that the foetus is a “human being” and that human life begins at conception.

What utter Vatican-minted nonsense!

Dr Asciak has every right to live by his philosophy, but that right does not extend to preventing his peers from practising their profession according to what they deem to be right for their patients.
