Rubble Walls built in Marsalforn

Malta Independent Monday, 15 August 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The administrative committee of Marsalforn has had a proposal accepted in which rubble walls in rural areas are being rebuilt. In fact work has been taken in hand at l-Qbajjar and Triq Wied l-Infern, where Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono visited yesterday to see foundations being laid and part of a wall being laid.

The work is being financed through funds issued under the eco-Gozo action plan.

Apart from improving the environment, the rubble walls also serve to prevent soil from being carried into the sea. Mrs Debono said many other walls would be built and rural areas conserved. 13 projects under the action plan would be costing over €660,000, to a maximum of €70,000 for each project.

Applications are being received under the second call for the scheme. They can be submitted until 29 August.
