Paul Heffernan marked his first start for Kilmarnock with two goals in a 4-1 victory over Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League yesterday.
Heffernan opened and closed the scoring to give Kenny Shiels his first win as Kilmarnock manager at his 11th attempt, stretching back into last season.
Heffernan scored inside three minutes but a slack pass from Ryan O'Leary 10 minutes later led to an equaliser from Garry O'Connor.
But the hosts recovered and took the lead again just before halftime when Paul Hanlon turned James Dayton's cross into his own net.
Dayton scored himself in the 65th minute directly from a free kick and Heffernan volleyed in another six minutes later.
Kilmarnock is fourth in the standings after three matches.
