Valletta Dhalia 12

(2-4)(2-3)(0-2)(3-3)

Valletta’s second victory over Marsascala in five outings, was a very important one, as they are now just a game away from being declared champions of the second division. Their first win nearly gave them a place in the K.O. final, and now their first season back, after a good number of years missing, could end in glory.

Valletta seemed hungrier than their adversaries, and after opening up a 4-0 advantage, early on in the match, they played with more confidence as they held on to a better 7-4 lead at the interval.

Marsascala made a reaction up till then, but after the break they suffered two more goals, without any reply, and the Citizens could control the rest of the encounter to complete their victory over Marsascala, who were runaway leaders after the second round of play.

Claudio Spiteri de Barro scored a poker of goals for the losers, who grabbed four goals in seven man-ups in their favour. Valletta recovered Clyde Bonello, after a good number of matches missing, and Giorgio Sammut also returned. They had their two foreigners, Alessandro di Somma and Robert Munkascy, with four goals each, and in their eight numerical advantages, they scored four times.

The second final is scheduled for tomorrow, and another Valletta win could crown them champions.
