The Myth recently announced that they will finally be releasing their much-awaited debut album.

Dion Farrell of The Myth admitted that this was a surprise even for the band itself. In fact, the band never planned to release an album but due to the constant requests from people asking for all the previously released singles to be available on a single CD, the band admitted that finally it was time to release their debut album. This decision was further aided by the fact that this album was being sponsored by Shield Security Consultants, the hosts for the evening.

Marc Anastasi, who was representing Shield Security Consultants, said that it was a pleasure for his company to take such an initiative. He said that he firmly believes in local talent and he also believes that the local music scene has come a long way and is so improving that it matches, and sometimes even betters, the international music scene. Mr Anastasi also said that sponsoring local music will create a snowball effect because a band can concentrate more on songwriting and performing and hence it will come up with even better material. In this regard he was glad that his company was sponsoring The Myth’s debut album. Moreover, he also encouraged other potential sponsors to follow suit and help the local music scene get the attention it deserves.

Finally, The Myth’s bassist Patrick Mifsud announced that this was Karen Farrell’s last contribution due to personal commitments. Taking her place was Etienne Farrell who incidentally formed part of The Myth’s original line-up in the early 1990s. Patrick also announced another addition to the band, Stephen Zammit on keyboards.

The evening came to an end with The Myth presenting a copy of the album to Shield Security Consultants. A reception was held afterwards.

The album, entitled Dreams, gets its name from one of the singles previously released by the band. Besides being one of the band’s favourite songs, the band believes that Dreams was also one of their most successful singles and hence they thought it would be fitting to name this album after this song.

Also included in this album is a small surprise in the form of the band’s first single Can’t Stop The Fire, which the band released in 1991. However, in this album the band did not include the original recording, which they had made 20 years before, but a faithful recent recording. The reason behind this is that the band wanted a consistent recording quality throughout the album.

Dreams is now on sale and each CD from the first batch of 50 will carry its unique serial number. Moreover, this first batch will be individually signed by all the members of the band.
