Melita customer Pauline Portelli from Nadur, Gozo is the 1000th client to switch to Melita’s Fibre Power service. She has been upgraded for free to Melita’s 100 Megabit Fibre Power broadband Internet service as a token of appreciation.
Since its launch in May, Melita’s Fibre Power has attracted hundreds of customers to upgrade or switch to the Fibre Power service, starting from a super fast 25 Megabit per second download speed up to the mind-blowing 100 Megabit per second download speed.
Commenting on this milestone, Mireille Muscat – Product Manager for Internet and Telephony at Melita said, “Feedback from Fibre Power subscribers has been extremely positive. Both the consumer and business segments feel the difference from traditional broadband – Fibre Power is simply incredible and is ideal for families with multiple connected devices or businesses needing ultra-fast broadband speeds for multiple users.”
Melita’s Fibre Power Internet service is available throughout Malta and Gozo. Customers subscribing to this new product will have a new CISCO Wi-Fi modem installed without the need for complex installations or disturbing any existing wiring in the home or office.
Earlier this month, Melita’s broadband internet service was confirmed as the fastest internet service in Malta by the independent global service Netindex.com − Melita’s average download speed stands at 16 Megabits per second, almost three times faster than the average speed offered by other local DSL internet providers.
To reach these ultra-fast speeds, Melita has deployed a new technology developed by global networking giants, CISCO called DOCSIS 3.0. This allows Internet users to reach very high broadband speeds. By adopting this technology, Melita has placed the Maltese Islands ahead of other European countries such as Germany, where the rollout of DOCSIS 3.0 technology is expected to reach 75 per cent availability by the end of 2012.
Packages start from as little as €18 per month (promotional price) for the FibrePower 25 Mbps connection (€30 after nine month promotion) or from just €42 per month when bundled with interactive TV services which includes Video on Demand BETA.
