Ta’ Qali Park

Malta Independent Monday, 29 August 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

In your issue of Saturday 13 August, it was reported that “Ta’ Qali set to become one big adventure park“. Reading the heading of this report, my memory went back to the early 1990s – precisely 1992 - when the owners of businesses at the Ta’ Qali Craft Village were promised that the PN government was going to build a new craft village at Ta’ Qali. That promise was made by the late Notary Dr George Bonello Du Puis (God bless his soul). That promise kept being repeated in all electoral manifestos since. Once the 2008 general election was over, that project was abandoned. Who knows, we might see another attempt to dupe Ta’ Qali Craft Village operators during the last few months prior to the next election.

While any project which could benefit Maltese families is very welcome, it is simply shameful that a place where tourists go in their thousands to see the crafts which our tiny island can offer is left in such a miserable state. Or is it the intention of this government to start taking tourists to see the park instead?
