On Saturday an air-pistol and air-rifle shooting competition was organised at the indoor target shooting range in Bidnija. This was the last competition for this shooting season which was quite memorable this year for our dedicated shooters especially in the results obtained when taking part in overseas competitions.

In sweltering heat all shooters did their best and the ever improving Stephen Vassallo achieved a personal best score in the air-pistol event for a 535/600 and the highest score in the final of 93,2 for a total of 628.2 points to take silver only seven points behind first placed Ray Cacciattolo. Newcomer Mario Mallia Milanes ended in 3rd place with a score of 465.0 points. In the women's event Josette Calleja shot a good 326/400 and an 82.9 in the final.

In the Air-rifle event, Charlo Chircop made a good comeback winning the event with a 518 qualification score and a 92.1 for a total score of 610.1 points. Angelo Xuereb followed in second place with a total of 568.9 points.

These events were judged by ISSF referee Mr Gino Galea and assisted by John Galea and Bernardette Chircop.
