With reference to the article ‘Six tonnes of rubbish removed from Xatt il-Mollijiet Street in Marsa’ (TMID, 25 August), WasteServ Malta Ltd would like to clarify that the rubbish generally found dumped illegally at Xatt il-Mollijiet is not related to the waste types that can be deposited at WasteServ’s Marsa facilities.

It should be noted that these facilities are mainly concerned with the receipt of animal wastes from slaughterhouses, some types of industrial wastes and electronic waste.

From what could be noted in the ‘before photo’ published next to the article, the dumped material included considerable quantities of cardboard which could have easily been deposited at no cost at one of WasteServ’s Civic Amenity Sites or in one of the Bring-In Sites found in each locality.
