St Vincent de Paul Running Group is preparing to hold a special programme to commemorate its 10th anniversary this year.

The main event is the 5 Km Road Race open to all categories and a 1 Km Fun Run. This year’s theme is ‘A Decade on the Run’.

This athletic activity which will be held in aid of the Community Chest Fund will take place on Saturday, 1 October. It will commemorate the Day of the Elderly and the feast of St Vincent de Paul.

This sports activity will consist of a 1 Km Fun Run around the Ring Road of the Residence and a 5 Km Race in the vicinity of the Residence, which is a very good route.

SVPRG is preparing to hold this athletic activity in conjunction with the Department of the Elderly, together with the Luqa, Marsa and Qormi Local Councils together with the approval of the Malta Amateur Athletic Association.

A cash prize fund of €220 will be distributed among the first three male and the first three female runners.

Trophies, T-shirts, medals, goody bags… will also be distributed. 68+ Lottery prizes including an Ideal Parashock 18 speed bicycle (Pedal Power) will be drawn among all participants.

This activity would not have been held without the support of sponsors including the Group’s partners APS Bank Ltd. Kristal are supplying the water at the end of the race.

All the 5 Km race participants are being offered an optional free body massage by Angelo Saliba ITEC. Kiss FM’s DJs and the Pinto Philarmonic Society St Sebastian Band Club will entertain the public.
