Athleta Basketball Nursery held their annual presentation dinner on 30 July at the Excelsior Hotel in Floriana. This annual event was very well attended by the players from all age categories, their parents, relatives and friends, committee members and sponsors.

The Nursery’s chairman, Joe Miceli and General Secretary, Ms Anneke Grixti, explained the nursery’s objectives to foster education and sports in the children attending the nursery through the sport of basketball.

Athleta Basketball Nursery is registered with the Maltese Council for Sport and forms

part of the Athleta Basketball Club, which is registered with the Malta Basketball Association that is in turn affiliated to the Maltese Olympic Committee.

Athleta Basketball is the oldest basketball club in Malta and competes in all the different basketball categories at different age groups (from 6/7year olds upwards) including the national senior categories. Athleta Basketball has won a number of national honours over the years and is currently the reigning senior men champions

Athleta thanked all the main sponsors who support the nursery during the whole season, namely Honey, Powerade, A to Z Electronics and Teamsport, as well as the different companies that advertise on the nursery’s website: www.athletabasketball.com.

A special also went to Middlesea Insurance providing the sponsorship for the trophies won by the respective players in all the different categories.

Finally the Nursery Committee thanked all the parents and children for being part of this successful nursery and look forward to another successful year.
