Valletta Dhalia 6
(2-2)(4-1)(2-2)(3-1)
Marsascala held on to the honour won last season, with a steady performance, as they denied the Citizens time after time, to end up comfortable Division 2 champions.
They had to come back from a first match setback, but their next games were exemplary, and Valletta had difficulty against a well organised defence.
Valletta replied twice in the opening session, and they continued in the next period, until M’scala took the match to their opponents, scoring three times without reply. At the interval Valletta had fallen 3-6 behind.
The two teams then shared four goals, in the third session, with M’skala holding on to useful 8-5 advantage, as the final period started. The Citizens pulled a goal back, but M’skala made sure of the result, as they rammed in three more goals. In the meantime they lost their coach, Pierre Borg, who was ejected two minutes from time.
After the match M’scala made merry, as their players were presented with their medals by the BOV representative, Edward Muscat Azzopardi, and captain, Joe Cremona, received the championship trophy.
