Sirens last the game better, in extra time
Sirens Ritter Sports 14
San Giljan Giuseppe’s 11
(after extra time)
(1-3)(3-3)(5-3)(1-1) – (2-1)(2-0)
This game, played in a quieter mood, also went into extra time, before Sirens could make the first inroad for a third place in the league ladder. San Giljan made the better start, with a double first session lead, and when the two teams shared six goals in the second period, the Saints were still ahead, 6-4, at the interval.
Sirens responded after the break, and, led by Charles Zammit, they were on an even 9-9 score, at the start of the last period. Both sides scored a goal apiece, with Sirens also missing a penalty throw, and a 10-10 score had the game into overtime.
The Saints scored first, but Sirens replied with a brace of goals, to take an advantage, which they added on to in the second session of play, to end on a top note.
Sirens’ Charles Zammit rammed in six goals, as his side scored four times in eight man ups. San Giljan were six times with an extra player, scoring on three occasions. They had Nikola Sutic and Filip Trajkovic with a hat trick each.
The second match between these two sides is also for tomorrow, at 5.15pm.
