Malta’s George Cassar (photo) finished in 93rd place in the world championship being held in Belgrade, capital of Serbia.
After a splendid first two rounds, in which Cassar registered two straights and led the standings overall, he had a disastrous remaining three rounds of 21, 22 and 20 for a total of 113/125 which saw him dropping considerably down the standings, finishing 93rd.
Before the barrage, Massimo Fabbrizi of Italy and Jaromir Wojtasiewiez of Poland were the most impressive. Fabbrizi finished with five straights – a total of 125 – which is a world and European record. The Polish shooter missed just one clay for a total of 124. There were another seven shooters who hit 122 each and were battling it out for the remaining four places in the barrage final.
Jeffrey Pisani finished in 117th place with a total of 109 after hitting a good 23 and a 21 in the final two rounds.
Jason John Aquilina finished 123rd with a total of 107 after scoring a poor 19 and a good 23 in the final two rounds.
William Chetcuti will be competing in the Double Trap event whichwill be held on Saturday while Nathan Lee Xuereb will compete in the Juniors Event.
Clive Farrugia will be in action on Monday and Tuesday in skeet.
