A fairly large crowd was present at the racing track last Friday evening for the 37th meeting of the 2011 horse racing season. This also marked the start of the second part of the season, after the usual summer break.
In all, seven races were on the card, six trot races and one flat race.
The Premier Class race, won by NATIF DE SALVI, was the main race of the day. Splendidly handled by young driver Redent Magro, NATIF DE SALVI sprinted strongly in the last few metres to beat CARNEGIE HALL who led for most of the way. Redent Magro was the driver of the day with two wins after also having won earlier on driving NETTER WILLIAMS in a Silver class race.
The Flat race was won by debutant CHEEKY JACK ahead of pre-race favourite PRIDE OF INDIA.
In the other races HULEGARDENS FILUR won the Copper class race ahead of GARDEN PAX, MEALINGTON had a superb display to dominate the Bronze class race, while INDIAN ATTACK won the last race on the card.
But the horse of the day was surely LABEL CHOUAN in the Silver class, who sprung a surprise, winning comfortably well ahead of its closest rival in the meeting’s best time of 1” 17”.
The next meeting is scheduled for this Friday evening at 7pm.
