Mellieha SC is this season celebrating the 50th anniversary since they started taking part in MFA competitions.

This was announced by Alfred Vella Borg, club president, during a news conference, in which the team’s new players for this season were also presented officially.

The club officials thanked the sponsors – LightHouse and Ashley, Zarb Coaches, Powerade, Kazouki Beauty Clinic, Transform Spa, Nike and Urban Jungle for their continuous support.

Players signed by Mellieha for this season include Keith Fenech, formerly of Qormi, William Borg, ex-Rabat, Wayne Buttigieg, ex-Mgarr, David Cauchi, ex-Mosta, as well as foreign players Phil Taylor from Britain and Brazilian player Thiago. Wayne Borg St John and Albert Aquilina are returning to the team after their loan spell at Lija and Birkirkara.

The club has appointed Jojo Bajada as coach while Dennis Fenech is the technical director. Joe Cauchi has again been appointed goalkeepers’ coach.
