Malta lost 3-0 to Austria in their opening match of the UEFA Under 19 championship Group 12 qualifying round.

Austria led 1-0 at the interval with a goal from Daniel Krenn on 22 minutes. Srdan Spiridonovic, a second half substitute, scored the second on 70 minutes and Marcel Ritzmaier added another one three minutes later.

In another Group match, Denmark beat Albania 1-0.

Malta’s next match is to be played tomorrow with the opponents being Denmark.
