Horse-racing: An All-round card at Marsa racecourse

Malta Independent Friday, 7 October 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A varied eight race card is on at the Marsa racetrack next Sunday at 2pm.

After last week’s start of the Cassar Fuels Autumn Championship, we shall now see various races from championships reserved for the other classes over a 2,140m distance. These will provide some of the finalists (the remainder will qualify next week) for the finals being held later this month.

All races are balanced events. For instance, the Gold class race includes various in-form horses such as No Comprendo and Lacoste I.T. both winners last week, runner-up Lys des Etroits and others.

We shall also have two interesting races for our top (Premier) class horses. These will see the return of a number of quality horses after some months of rest, including Prix de Vincennes winner Master Perrine, five race winner Energy Launcher and others.

Five horses hailing from France, Germany and Sweden are also registered to debut in this meeting.

The race card also includes a flat race for Class B thoroughbreds featuring six horses looking to register either their first win in Malta or a win after some months’ absence from the winner’s circle.

So, all horse-racing enthusiasts should have something to look forward to during next Sunday’s meeting, providing an entertaining Sunday afternoon outing for the whole family.
