The Malta Stock Exchange lost one point or 0.047 per cent on Friday to close at the 3,105.699 level. This drop was registered on a trading volume of twenty-six transactions, with the bulk of the business being associated with shares of International Hotels Investments Plc (IHI), which saw 10 transactions through which 106,616 shares changed hands. IHI’s share price registered a drop of €0.005 or 0.63 percent during Friday’s session.
Out of the five equities that registered trades, only two shares fell in price. Besides IHI, San Tumas Shareholdings Plc fell by €0.200 or 9.52 percent, and closed the session at €1.90. Malta International Airport plc reported a €0.019 or 1.23 percent increase by the end of the trading session, closing at €1.569. Shares of GO Plc and Bank of Valletta Plc (BOV) did not report any price change from that registered during Thursday’s session, with GO Plc closing at €1.10 and BOV closing at €2.50.
While fourteen corporate bonds registered trades during the session, six reported price changes. The largest loss was registered by 5.6% Global Capital Plc € 2014 / 2016 which slipped by €5.00 or 5.56 percent, ending at €85.00. On the other hand, the 7.5 percent Mediterranean Bank Investments Holding Plc € 2012-2014 reported a gain of €1.00 or 1.02 per cent in price from the previous session, thus closing at €99.00. The 4.8% Bank of Valletta Plc Sub € 2020 registered a gain of 0.69 percent, or €0.70 in its price to closed at €101.50.
The government bond market, registered trades in seven bonds, with declines in prices amongst others being registered in the 4.6% MGS 2020(II) which fell by €0.90 or 0.85 per cent, the 5.25 percent MGS 2030 (I) which fell by €1.050 or 1.02 percent and the 6.35% MGS 2013(II), which fell by €0.38 or 0.36 percent from the closing price registered during the previous session. Here, a total nominal value of €278,578 changed hands over 9 deals which amounted to a market value of €290,155.70.
