The handball season will start today at the University Sports Hall with the MHA Cup.

The first game will see the newly formed Phoenix SC ladies against La Salle Trendi, followed by Luxol H.C against Aloysians Zmerc.

On paper, Aloysians are the strongest side for the fact that they got some new signings and also for the fact that their closest rivals La Salle lost some key players.

Phoenix have a strong team led by Natasha Celic and the team’s enthusiasm showed during the summer will surely portray itself on court. Luxol are mostly an unchanged side with the return of Daniela Salamone. 

The odds favour Aloysians for the main titles with Luxol, La Salle and Phoenix having to fight it out for the second place.

In the men’s category Luxol Living Well meet Kavallieri RS2 and La Salle ZT Development face Phoenix Mendoza today.

Aloysians will have a free weekend after participating in the EHF Challenge Cup last weekend. Aloysians and La Salle seem to be the main contenders for the main titles this season.

Aloysians strengthened their squad with the addition of pivot Damian Gargano while La Salle added James Farrugia and Neville Borg to their fold.

Kavallieri, Luxol and Phoenix will be eyeing the third place after their respective sides remain more or less unchanged.
