David Beckham’s income from personal sponsorship deals rose by 30 per cent last year, signalling the enduring strength of the Los Angeles Galaxy player’s brand appeal.
According to figures released by Britain’s Companies House, revenue for the company which handles Beckham’s endorsements was £14.9 million in 2010.
In 2009, Footwork Productions received £11.4 million from companies including sportswear manufacturer Adidas.
In 2010, Beckham also signed a deal with Yahoo Inc. to be part of the internet portal’s World Cup coverage after being ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
The accounts also showed that the 36-year-old former England captain received £11.6 million from the company compared with £9 million the previous year.
A separate company, Brand Beckham, receives a share of the merchandising revenue he generates for the Galaxy as well as joint endorsements with his wife, Victoria, including their range of fragrances.
A third revenue stream in 2010 was Beckham’s guaranteed $6.5 million annual salary from the Galaxy.
