A Gers Delia brace in the second half gave Zejtun a hard earned victory over a spirited and determined St Andrew’s side.

It must be said that the Saints played a great match especially in the first half, but faded out in the second one as Zejtun increased their tempo and finished off their opponents with two Delia goals scored in swift counter attacks.

Zejtun started like a house on fire and inside the first minute Gers Delia beat Balzan with a precise lob but St Andrew’s defender Jonathan Bugeja saved a certain goal clearing the ball from over the goal line.

On 15 minutes Delia shot well over the bar from the edge of the area. The Saints hit back with a shot from Arafa Nakuaa slightly missing the target, and Concalves had a dipper from 30 metres well saved by Ranier Farrugia.

On 62 minutes Zejtun were unlucky when a Kalin Ganchev first timer smashed against the upright.

Three minutes later Zejtun took the lead through Gers Delia who from the edge of the area fired into the roof of the net. Three minutes later the Saints had a golden opportunity to get back on level terms when they were awarded a penalty, but Concalves saw Ranier Farrugia saving brilliantly.

Seven minutes from time Zejtun sealed the issue with the second goal again scored by Gers Delia who finished off another breath taking counter attack.
