Hibernians 2

Mosta 0

The Paolites kept their place at the top of the table when they beat bottom side Mosta by two goals - one in each half - in an encounter which they dominated from start to finish.

Hibernians were looking to continue on their recent form of late against Mosta who languished at the bottom of the table with just one point from six matches.

Both teams started with relatively unchanged formations from the last games with Hibs relying on Dos Santos and Dias up front while Oliver Spiteri deployed four foreigners in his starting lineup.

On seven minutes, Mosta made the worst possible start when Ossok was given his marching orders after being judged as the last man when he felled Dos Santos. From the resultant free kick, Clayton Failla blasted home to give Hibernians an early lead.

Having numerical advantage, the Paolites were in complete control in all departments with Mosta already looking demoralised and out of contention.

The match became boring and the next move worthy of note came on 35 minutes when Tisbi had a shot which went just wide.

Mosta had a good chance on 56 minutes when a cross by Bogdanovic almost found Ian Zammit who was alone in the box but the ball was cleared for a corner. Hibernians continued controlling the game with ease although goalmouth action was few and far between.

On 79 minutes Failla squared the ball to Edison to Dias who, clean through, saw his effort saved by Debono.

But just a minute later, Edison found Dias again whose shot was saved by Debono only for Edison to knock in the rebound and seal the encounter.
