Matthew Asciak and Elaine Genovese have retained the title of Malta champions.

Asciak beat 15 year old Bernard Cassar Torregiani 6-1 6-1 in the final.  Genovese defeated 17 year old Brenda Galea 6-0

6-1.

For Asciak this was his seventh consecutive title, winning for the first time at age of  15.  Asciak was the youngest ever Mens’ champion.

On the way to the final he disposed of Omar Suduka, Bradley Callus and, in the semifinal, M. Hingley from England 6-0 6-2.  Cassar Torregiani overcame Mark Gatt and Denzil Agius in the semifinal

Genovese was also in a class of her own, beating Georgina Farrugia Sacco in the semifinal.  Brenda Galea had too much experience for Rebecca McCartey. Galea won 6-0 6-2

Asciak, ably partnered by Mark Gatt won the Men’s Doubles, overpowering Markus and Darryl Delicata in the final 6-1 6-3. After the entertaining doubles, the tournament came to an end.
