Surprise, surprise – Stephen Calleja has once again given vent to his antagonism towards Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar for having the temerity to quote zoning information obtained from a Mepa official which turned out to be mistaken. We are taken to task for not apologising, so here it is: We humbly and abjectly apologise for depending on the information supplied by a Mepa official without double-checking it”.

Of course, the fact that, as we stated, the information could not be confirmed as it is not available on the Mepa website was totally irrelevant to Stephen Calleja.

Calleja took up half-a-page of newsprint expounding how FAA mistook the date when this valley was turned over for development. Yet he could not spare a few of his 810 words to mention the main issue that FAA is campaigning to save agricultural land, since the supermarket to be built there could be accommodated in one of the many abandoned factories just across the road in the industrial estate.

To further prove what a thoroughly worthless bunch we are, Calleja states that FAA is “an organisation that is always more than ready to point fingers at any development that is about to take place” – forgetting that one week previously, his own paper carried our press release praising the recent Citadella project. It seems that FAA is not the only one who should check the facts!

Stephen Calleja complains petulantly that other newspapers did not give coverage to our heinous crime – could that have been because other newspapers have more important things on which to focus? It has long been evident that Stephen Calleja strongly disagrees with FAA’s mission to safeguard this island’s precious heritage. It is a pity that he uses a paper like The Malta Independent on Sunday for his private agenda.
