The match between Lija and Zejtun resulted in a draw without any goals, where the match was quite balanced, with the key players being the custodians.

Lija had a good start in the first half, yet in the second set of 45 minutes, Zejtun played better than their opponents. Notwithstanding that both teams had their fair share of scoring opportunities, the result was just, where no team deserved the three points.

In the first half both sides had various scoring opportunities, with Lija being slightly better than their opponents. The first action worthy of note came Lija's way in the 7th minute, when after a good run through Zejtun's defence, Beu's drive from outside the penalty area was saved by goalkeeper Farrugia. Fifteen minutes into the match, referee Fiodor Zammit awarded Zejtun a free-kick, but Magro's effort went high over the crossbar.

On the half hour mark, Lija were close to taking the lead, when from a freekick by Beu, Fenech's header was cleared into a corner by Farrugia. Three minutes later, Delia went close again, when after going past two Lija defenders, his strike went inches wide.

Seven minutes before the break, goalkeeper Ini denied Zejtun the lead, when he saved Ganchev's low first timer after Delia's cross.

Zejtun were very agressive in the second half, with Cauchi and Delia key figures in the midfield. Four minutes from the start of the second half, Cauchi's powerful effort from inside the penalty area went slightly high.

In the 61st minute, goalkeeper Ini, who had a very positive display for Lija today, denied Cauchi once again, when he brilliantly saved his effort from inside the area. In the 76th minute, Scicluna of Lija dispossessed Azzopardi in the centre of the pitch and passed the ball to Beu, with the latter's first timer missing the target by inches.

Ten minutes from stoppage time, Farrugia tried to surprise Lija's custodian with a chip from the centre of the field, with the goalkeeper barely converting into a corner.

In the 83rd minute, Zejtun's Vince Camilleri was sent off from the bench for protesting with the referee.

Zejtun, are in second place with ten points, behind Pieta' who are first with 13 points. Lija on their part are struggling in the lower part of the table with 5 points.
