Floriana FC yesterday suspended goalkeeper William Amamoo for 28 days.
Club president Johann Said said on a TV programme on Sunday evening that the goalie had refused to play the game against Valletta telling the club he was unfit to play only five minutes before the start of the game, while the club’s doctor had declared Amamoo fit to play.
The goalie contested this declaration saying that it was untrue, adding that he had proof that showed that the club doctor had told him a few hours before the match that he (Amamoo) had a cold which made him weak.
Amamoo yesterday said he wanted to face Said face to face on TV before all Maltese football enthusiasts to be able to see who is telling the truth.
The case is not stopping here. In fact, the Ghanaian goalie was yesterday expected to report the club to the MFA over this latest incident.
