I live in the south of Malta, Żabbar to be precise. I work in the St Julian’s area and it takes a good hour to an hour-and-a-half to get to work.

The traffic congestion throughout the route I have to take is just ridiculous. First, I have to deal with the road leading down to Fgura. Manners and road etiquette simply go out of the window. People push and fight to get out of junctions and sometimes, people do not even obey the traffic lights. The least that is said about the Marsa junction, the better. It is just a free for all. From there, one gets a bit of respite, until trying to get onto Regional Road, which takes considerable skill as one juggles the accelerator and the clutch on the absurd uphill filter roads. From there, it’s relatively smooth until you hit the university tunnels, where it is nose to tail until you get past the monstrous Gas Tanks roundabout.

One arrives at work already stressed and all it would take is a decent system of underpasses.
