Last month’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) wrapped up a successful Kavallieri season 2010-2011. The AGM, which is now a well-patronised event in the Kavallieri family calendar, was held at the Club House in Hamrun.
The AGM delivered the new committee for the upcoming season which is now composed of Brian Miller - President, Mariella Camilleri – General Secretary, Pierre Mangion – Vice President, David Borg – Technical Manager, Sergio Degabriele – Treasurer, Tony Sammut – PRO, Josef Vassallo – Member, Edward Cassar Torregiani – Member.
Mariella Camilleri is replacing Audrey Vella who has been instrumental to the club in all these years. The same can be said of Reuben Vella who was replaced by Sergio Degabriele who takes over the club’s purse strings from Vella who will still take charge of the club’s banking requirements.
One of the more important announcements in the AGM was that of the Technical Staff team. The team will be composed of no less than 12 coaches this year, a testimony to the club’s commitment to development and growth. Indeed this comes a long way from the times where fielding even one coach across the board was a big challenge for the club.
Terenzio De Benedictis takes on the role of Head Coach and Director of Rugby to bring his expertise as a Level 3 coach and his experiences in coaching clubs like Italian Serie A1 Aquila RFC and the Italian Under 16 national team to a Kavallieri RFC that is looking up at its future with optimism.
His new team at Kavallieri includes people new to the club like Vinicius Ebram Fiore who will be a player and who will coach the Backs, and Darren Lamon who will take on the role of Community Coach. Vini (Vinicius) played with the Brazilian national 7s team just a few months ago and is a lawyer by profession. Darren Lamon brings his vast experience to the club’s schools and age groups.
The Coaching Staff team is as following;
Terenzio De Benedictis,Head Coach/Director of Rugby,; Patrizio Allegrucci, Coach – Seniors; Robert Bonavia, Forwards Coach; Vinicius Ebram Fiore, Backs Coach; Susan Bradley, Head Coach – Women; Amanda Cassar, Coach – Women; Sean Doublesin, Head Coach – Youths; Joseph Cutajar, Coach – Youths; Darren Lamon, Community Coach; Ivan Farrugia, Assistant Coach – Youths; Neil Galea, Coach – Minis; Patrice Debiere, Coach – Minis.
Kavallieri RFC is lucky to retain the contribution of its senior players (some retired, some still very active in the field) which is a clear sign that it isn’t haemorraging talent. The club is also proud of the growth and improvement in the women’s team which would indicate that its efforts are showing a return.
Kavallieri is ever so grateful to its sponsors, Megaman, Cisk Excel, Camray Co.Ltd, Halmann Vella Ltd, PKF, Vassallo Builders Ltd, Pearl Bay Wines, Sundreams Ltd and Active Zone for the fantastic support and the continuing faith in the club’s long-term strategy.
