In every market, be it a monopoly or open to competition, consumers pay for a service/product they require. In a competitive market the consumer has the possibility of making an informed decision with regard to the product/service required.
Unfortunately for the Maltese consumer, this is not the case regarding Enemalta as it is the only provider operating in a monopoly. This is to the detriment of the consumer. All other markets are open to competition.
I, as a consumer, wrote a letter of complaint to the CEO of Enemalta but did not even receive an acknowledgment. I did not expect the CEO to acknowledge my complaint but I am sure the task could have been delegated to one of the many Enemalta employees. My letter was received on 31st August 2011, we are now at the end of October and half days are over yet still no acknowledgment – only in a monopoly, only with Enemalta!
