This year the 10th edition of the Beneteau Cup will be held between 4 and 6 November.

This annual sailing festival for Beneteau sailing yachts brings together their owners and families for a three day celebration of competitive spirit and social enjoyment. The beauty of this event is that it makes for interesting racing for the more competitive whilst giving the opportunity to the cruising sailor to venture out on a race course with the family to compete against identical boats.

On the Friday all entries will sail from Marsamxetto to Mgarr, Gozo, while the racing for Saturday and Sunday is planned to be held around Gozo and the Comino channel.

Alfred Manduca, managing director of Mediterranean Yacht Sales Ltd, organiser of the Beneteau Cup and exclusive local agent for the Beneteau brand said that this year’s event marks the tenth anniversary of this owner’s group event. “We first thought about this event in October 2002 and by November that same year we held the very first Cup which attracted an encouraging fleet of 25 Beneteau yachts. Ten years later, amongst the local sailing community, we are proud that this event is regarded as one of the best in the local sailing calendar,” he added.

Karl Diacono, a participant in all previous nine editions of the Beneteau Cup said “this event is by far our local favourite....we always look forward to it because it combines a good mix of amicable, well-organised racing and good family fun.”

The organisers also confirmed that for the tenth consecutive year Medcomms Ltd will be the main sponsor of the event. When contacted, Mark Galleone from Medcomms said ‘we have always believed in the spirit of the event.....and if the formula remains as it is, we will surely keep supporting.’

The start of the first race on 4 November will be at 12.30pm.
