Swimming: Three Records broken in ASA time trials

One hundred and fifty seven swimmers participated in the 11th Age Group meet last Saturday.

Local Clubs IASIS, Neptunes WPSC, Sirens ASC, Sliema ASC and S.W. Elite were joined by swimmers from Queen Anne School in the UK.

Nicola Muscat broke Angela Galea’s national record of 2004 in 1,500m freestyle in a time of 18.34,58 while her brother Neil Muscat broke his own record in 200m Free in a time of 2.10,36. Philip Caruana Baldacchino broke the100m breaststroke Age Group B record of Andrea M Agius in a time of 1.17.74.

At the start of the competition, trophies, prizes and the Aggregate Shield were presented by Neil Agius to the winners of the Swimming League 2010/2011.

The winners were Andrea Agius and Davina Mangion (Open Cat.) Julian Harding and Nicola Muscat (Junior Cat.) and Michael Umnov and Amy Micallef (cadets Cat.). Neptunes WPSC were overall winners to claim the Aggregate Shield for 2010/2011.
