Mosta 0
Sliema W 4
The final result is a clear indication that Sliema were the better outfit during the game by creating much more chances than Mosta.
Had they taken all the chances they created the final score would have been different.
The first half was a balanced affair but the second period was a total dominance by Sliema.
Mosta were the first to threaten when Jake Vella served Godwin McKay with a through ball and Sliema keeper Jovin Ebejer had to come out of his charge and kick the ball away to safety.
In Sliema’s first attack in the 10th minute they opened the score when Aaron Chircop dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and served Paolo Dandolo with a cross in the area who headed past Mosta keeper Chris Saliba.
In another Sliema action, Saliba saved a shot by Axel Xuereb after being served by Chircop, while at the other end, McKay headed just over the bar following a corner kick by Kurt Zammit.
Sliema resumed with their pressure, Chircop served Dandolo on the right flank and Saliba neutralised the ball from his cross-shot.
After Dandolo was fouled on the right flank Gabriel Aquilina drove well off target froma free kick.
Two minutes after the resumption Sliema doubled the score when substitute Mike Vella served Dale Micallef with a cross from the right in the area and after his shot was partly cleared Chircop was on hand to score from the rebound.
Mosta did not throw in the towel and mounted two actions in a row. Mckay dribbled past an opponent on the right flank who then served Jake Vella in the area and Ebejer saved his shot.
The score became 3-0 in the 56th minute when Chircop released Vella on the left flank who after entering the area, netted with a low shot.
The Blues kept pressing, Gabriel Aquilina missed the upright from a free kick while substitute Jan Muscat in the area also missed the upright moments later.
Just before the final whistle Sliema scored a fourth goal as Xuereb dribbled past an opponent on the right flank who then crossed to Aquilina in the area who scored with a grounder.
