Breakdown Of law and order

Malta Independent Sunday, 6 November 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Reading about the breakdown of law and order in Paceville reminds me of that piece of legislation that granted bouncers some powers that were only accorded to the police, among which is the sanction to arrest and hold a person on the premises.

At times I wonder if there is some engineer in the bowels of our country keen on brinkmanship, pushing and pushing till we get so tangled up in regulations that the powers that be will have a freer hand to socially engineer our country on the EU model.

I am not Eurosceptic but very much a EU and Big Brother critic. The fact that we are too civilised to take part in violent protests should not be interpreted that we approve of the misdeamours now and again, sometimes prominently, at other times less so which shock and dismay.
