The Bank of Valletta Premier League returns to action today at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun where, in the only match, Mqabba come up against ‘home’ side Hamrun Spartans (kick-off 7.30pm).
The programme this weekend is sapread over four days with one match today, two tomorrow and on Saturday and another match on Sunday. Only the matches on Saturday are being played at the Hibernians Stadium in Corradino - the remaining matches are being played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun.
Both sides will be aiming to return to winning form after last week’s encounters which saw Mqabba drawing against bottom placed Mosta, and the Spartans suffering a 5-3 defeat at the hands of a resurgent Marsaxlokk side.
At present, Mqabba occupy seventh place in the standings with 11 points, while Hamrun are in 11th place with just seven points.
It is evident that the Spartans will be doing their utmost to win the three points to improve their precarious position. The same, however, also applies to Mqabba, and this should make the match interesting to watch.
