HSBC In support of SMEs

Malta Independent Tuesday, 15 November 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 16 years ago

HSBC offers a broad range of solutions to SMEs (Small Medium Enterprises), from the Business Direct package for round-the-clock business banking, to specialised commercial Relationship Managers to provide entrepreneurs with up-to-date advice and guidance for their businesses.

As part of its support to small and medium enterprises through financial assistance and professional advice, HSBC’s Commercial Banking participated in ‘Intrapriza Malta – L-appuntament tieghek man-negozju’, an event organised by the Ministry of Finance at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali, to recognise and celebrate micro and small business involvement in the creation of wealth, productivity and jobs in Malta.

As the leader in international business, HSBC also assists SMEs in exporting and importing goods and services, facilitating trade connections with businesses worldwide. The latest achievement in this regard has been the launch of direct trade settlement services in Chinese Renminbi, giving local entrepreneurs doing business with China the opportunity of reducing risks and costs in foreign exchange, enabling them to negotiate better terms of trade.

“Small and medium enterprises are important drivers to the Maltese economy. Their role locally is critical in helping to weather the economic storm, which is currently challenging the global economy,” said Michel Cordina, HSBC’s Head of Commercial Banking. “We want to be instrumental in assisting these businesses to invest further, grow their operations and employ more people in jobs of quality.”
