The MFA president, Norman Darmanin Demajo concluded Pembroke Athleta football nursery’s annual coaches seminar by praising the organisation of the event and stressing that such meetings are badly needed to improve the quality of the football coaching in Malta, especially at youth level.
Special guests were MFAvice president Ludovico Micallef, MFA youth technical director Robert Gatt. Pembroke Athleta FN seniors coaches and coaches from other nurseries also took part.
Lecturers for the seminar were Fr Hilary Tagliaferro who opened the seminar with an enlightening talk on the role of the football nursery, Jamie Edwards, FA tutor and Hereford United youth development centre manager, youth coach and head match analyst Gwyn Jones who spoke on youth development and game analysis - the latter two also conducted the practical instructional meetings.
Physiotherapist Raymond Bezzina explained how biomechanical screening helps to prevent injuries to young athletes.
The Pembroke Athleta FN committee thanked the lecturers for their valid contribution and Radisson Blu resort & spa, Malta Golden Sands who sponsored the event.
