The draws for the BOV knock-out semi-finals, in three categories, were made yesterday during a press conference at the Ta’ Qali Basketball Pavilion.
The president of the Malta Basketball Association, Paul Sultana, stressed that the collaboration, between Bank of Valletta and Basketball, has been ongoing since 1976, and that the BOV knock-out has been taking place from the year 2001.
He said that the introduction of the foreign players has embellished the spectacle offered, and the local talent have been upgrading their level of play.
The MBA has also taken measures to attract more spectators to Ta Qali, and will continue to do so in the coming months.
The BOV Manager Marketing, Edward Muscat Azzopardi, mentioned that the Bank is pleased with the collaboration between the two entities, and praised the facelift that has been given to the Basketball Pavilion, which will result in better attendances.
He explained that it was always the intention of Bank of Valletta, to be involved in the sporting sector, as is expressed by the number of contacts that the Bank has with diverse sports disciplines.
In all there have been a total of 21 teams taking part in this competition, and the draws for the semi finals, in all categories, resulted as follows:
