British international high-performance coach James Barclay (photo) is presently in Malta conducting a seven-day Training Camp.

Organised by Badminton Malta (BM) with the support of the Confederation of Mediterranean Badminton (COMEBA) as well as of Badminton Europe, this training course is primarily intended for the Association’s Junior Academy which comprises its better junior players and their respective coaches.

The training sessions are being held on a daily basis; each session lasts from one-and-a-half to two hours. The several sessions alternate between the Cottonera Sports Complex and St. Aloysius College (B’Kara).

Every session integrates theoretical and practical aspects; in this way, the participants can assimilate the latest technical and tactical knowhow about the game.

During this intensive training course, Barclay is focussing particularly on footwork and on match tactics.

During his stay, Barclay will also be visiting several local schools and colleges in order to promote Badminton among the students as well as to assist and train as necessary the respective PE teachers.

Badminton Malta expressed its gratitude to COMEBA as well as to Badminton Europe for the valuable support provided in the successful organisation of this Camp.
