The Maltese Olympic Committee’s Sports Award ceremony is being held tomorrow during which Malta’s sportsman and sportswoman of the Year will be revealed.
The ceremony will also include the induction of some persons into the Hall of Fame. These persons will also be known tomorrow evening.
Ninety eight sportsmen and sportswomen have been nominated for this year’s event. The ceremony is to be transmitted live on Melita’s Malta Stars Channel (614) from 8pm.
The evening is now in its 10th edition and is annually organised by the Maltese Olympic Committee. Norman Hamilton is the chairman of the organising committee.
Three Italian guests will be honouring the local athletes by their presence – Pietro Mennea, Antonio Rossi and Yuri Chechi. A profile of each of these athletes is included elsewhere on this page.
Among the local talents taking part in the variety show during the ceremony will be Aldo Busuttil, Joseph Chetcuti, Baclava, Tiziana Calleja, Janvil and Glenn Vella. The foreign singers will be Jenny B and Barbara Cola.
