Dingli Swallows easily beat St Patrick in a bottom of the table clash. The defeat leaves the team from Zabbar alone in the bottom of the table. It was a deserved victory for Bobby Giorev’s boys in a one sided match. For Dingli the return of Leontiev Konda proved to be fundamental, whilst powerful defender Francis Owusu played a blinder, not only blotting out striker Engoudou, but also finding space to score two goals that knocked the Saints completely out of the game.
St Patrick who were reduced to ten men in the second half, were a pale shadow of the team that gained four points in the last two outings, and for coach Robert Cassar this was the first defeat at the helm of the side.
Dingli took the lead on 17 minutes when Chris Azzopardi dribbled his way past two defenders before passing towards Konda who first timed beautifully past Joshua Galea.
The Saints’ reaction was rather chaotic with their striker Engoudou constantly marked by Francis Owusu. On 35 minutes Dingli had another good scoring opportunity but this time Azzopardi’s scorcher was well blocked by Joshua Galea.
On the other end St Patrick almost obtained the equalizer when a Steve Dimech cross was fumbled by the Dingli goalkeeper but Engoudou failed to capitalize. Four minutes from the interval Dingli doubled the score when Francis Owusu rose above all to head powerfully home a well taken freekick by Etienne Farrugia.
St Patrick went close early in the second half with a Glockja header but on the hour Dingli put the issue beyond doubt when Francis Owusu again headed home another freekick by Mauro Brincat.
Minutes later St Patrick were down to ten men when Simon Zerafa received two yellow cards in the space of a few minutes to leave his side practically no chance to save the match.
