Valletta Should have no difficulty to beat Mosta, but Floriana face tough challenge from revived Hamrun

Valletta should have little or no difficulty to beat Mosta this afternoon to maintain their lead at the top of the standings.

In the other matches, Floriana might face a stiff challenge from a revived Hamrun Spartans side while Sliema should return to winning form against Marsaxlokk. Also, Qormi face a tricky match against unlucky Tarxien Rainbows.

In today’s match, Valletta will have defender Steve Borg ruled out through suspension while Mosta have two players - Ian Zammit and Bryan Agius - suspended, apart from having Luca Martinelli and Gilbert Martin ruled out through injury.

Floriana will certainly be aiming to maintain the pace with the two front-runners as they face Ħamrun Spartans at the Hibs Stadium tomorrow.

The Greens have been somewhat consistent of late, but have also been lucky on some occasions. Tomorrow, however, they face a revived Hamrun side which is once again seeking to keep their remote hopes of a Top Six berth alive.

Massimo Grima will be back in Jesmond Zammit’s side following a one-match ban but Gaetan Spiteri and Lee Agius are still suspended and goalie Omar Borg is ruled out through injury.

Togo international Eric Akoto is still uncertain whether he will be able to play this weekend, but new Nigerian striker Onome Sodje may be given a chance to show his worth.

When Tarxien face Qormi tomorrow, Brazilian striker Daniel Mariano Bueno and midfielder Stefan Giglio will again be absent through injury for Tarxien.

Moreover, left flanker Carl Sammut is suspended for the Rainbows but Ryan Mintoff is set to return after recovering from a knee injury.

Qormi coach Stephen Azzopardi will have defender Roderick Sammut back at his disposal. The player missed the last match against Valletta through suspension while striker Abubakar Bello-Osagie should also be included in the side after injury.

Sliema coach Danilo Doncic is confident his side will be able to bag the three points against beleaguered Marsaxlokk.

He is expected to have some players returning to the side from injury. These include Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza and Beppe Muscat.

Strugglers Marsaxlokk will certainly be without skipper Carlo Mamo who is suspended while Malcolm Licari may also be doubtful as he seems to be on the verge of moving to Floriana.
