Christmas Football Festival At the Victor Tedesco Stadium

For the fourteenth consecutive year, Hamrun Spartans FC Youth Nursery is once again organising the Christmas Football Festival at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. This year’s Football Festival started on Thursday and continues tomorrow. Twenty-four teams and around 250 boys from four categories (2005, 2004, 2003 and 2001) are be participating.

The Festival is now a fixture in the largest nurseries’ calender of events and it was fully registered within a couple of weeks from the opening of applications. The nurseries taking part in this year’s Football Festival are: Floriana, Mosta, Naxxar, Pieta‘, Paola H., San Gwann, St Andrews, St Patrick, Valletta and Hamrun Spartans.

In a press conference held recently, Hamrun Secretary Noel Debattista explained that the new regulations as presented by the MFA Technical Centre will be adopted for the first time in this festival. He emphasised the importance of fair play and sporting spirit throughout all the games.

Martin Bugeja of Firetech Limited explained that the company will be sponsoring the Christmas Football Festival for the eighth consecutive year. Firetech specialises in fire, safety and security and operates from its premises in Mill Street, Qormi.

The Youth FA representative – Emanuel Agius – present at the press conference remarked that it is important that all kids get their chance to play in such festivals. He also praised the well-organised festival which is now a fixture in the calendar of local football nurseries.
