Two Maltese doctors, Dr Kirill Micallef Stafrace and Dr Lucienne Attard recently attended the 7th EFSMA - European Congress of Sports Medicine, that was held in Salzburg.
Dr Attard represented the Maltese Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine (MASEM), while Dr Micallef Stafrace is a member of the Executive of EFSMA (the European Federation of Sports Medicine Associations).
Dr Attard presented the paper ‘The effect of a Specific Training Programme on the Incidence of Injuries during a 222 Hour Volleyball Marathon’ while Dr Micallef Stafrace delivered a key note lecture on ‘ The Prevention of Lower Limb Injuries in the Military’.
Both acted as chairpersons for a number of sessions and attended the EFSMA Council of Delegates during which a number of relevant Sports Medicine issues were raised and discussed.
