Parliamentary Secretary responsible for Sport Clyde Puli has inaugurated a podium for use by the Island Karting Club.

The ceremony was held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary since the inauguration of the club.

In a short speech, Puli said the government had budgeted a considerable sum of euros towards motor-sport, foremost among which was a sum of €350,000 for a racing circuit which will serve karting, mini motos, quad bikes, motards, scooters and other vehicles who usually take part in hill climbs and drifting.

Puli added that the government had also passed some lands to several motor sport associations, among them the Drag Racing Association, Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi, the Island Karting Club and it will now be handing over another piece of land for use by Offroad enthusiasts.

The Parliamentary Secretary added that the government did not stop here with its investment in motor-sport.

It had aided other entities in the organisation of several events such as Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina, Mdina Grand Prix, Gozo Grand Sprint and the JDM Allstars European Drifting Championship. It also helped the MMF financially so that it could organise courses for drivers and marshals in collaboration with the FIA. Puli also said the government had also helped Gianluca Dingli directly through the Youth Development scheme.
