Malta Stock Exchange Ends the week on a positive note

Trading activity during Friday’s session on the Malta Stock Exchange saw the MSE Index increase by 0.089 percent, to close at 3,060.233. The MSE saw only seven deals involving an aggregate of 7,462 shares that changed hands with two equities reporting activity during Friday’s session.

Bank of Valletta plc registered six deals in its name, with 5,200 shares changing hands during the weeks’ last session. BOV’s share price increased by 0.36 percent, or 0c9 to reach €2.500 by the end of trading.

MaltaPost Plc registered a volume of 2,262 shares changing hands through a sole trade. MaltaPost shares closed the session at €0.955.

In the fixed income sector of the market, activity was spread across fourteen corporate bonds and five government stocks. In the corporate bond market, out of those traded, three bonds reported an increase in price, two bonds dropped in price while nine others maintained their previous day’s close. A nominal value of €142,694 was transacted which had an aggregate market value of €145,409.86. Out of the corporate bonds that reported an increase in price, the 6.8% Premier Capital Plc 2017/2020 registered the highest gain in the corporate bond market, which amounted to an increase of 0.59% or €0.60 from the previous trading period, through a sole deal and closed the session at €102.60. On the other hand, the 4.25% FIMBank Plc Eur 2013 registered a drop of 0.99% or €1.00 through a sole deal, to reach €100 by the close of the session. In the government bond market, the highest gainer from the MGSes traded was the 4.3% MGS 2016(IV) which reported a gain of 0.76% or 78c from the previous session’s close, to reach €104.71 through a sole transaction involving a nominal amount of €5,000,000.
