The annual Mixed Doubles’ tournament which will be held at TCK, between 14 January and 26 February 2012, will once again be sponsored by “Protrade Ltd.”, suppliers of furniture fittings, tools and timber, of Triq Is-Sebh, Qormi.

The Council of the Club thanked the directors of this firm for their continuous support.

Matches will be played on Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays. A ‘Walk-Over,’ will be given after 15 minutes grace from the original starting-time provided, the allocated court is available.

The Council has decided to change the format of this tournament to that of team tournament without captains as follows:-

Players are to join with a selected partner (Mixed) more or less of equal level of play but definitely not more than one category below according to the last two team tournaments (i.e. an “A” player must enter with a partner not below “B” player). Placing will be made according to the level of the best player.

Couples will be placed in one of the teams by the sub-committee.

Tournament sub-committee should try to balance the teams as much as possible.

First Prize will be awarded to the first placed team and second prize to the first couple of each division.

A match consists of two sets with a tie-break at 6-all and when the score is one set all a professional tiebreak up to 10 (not 7) with advantage of two points will be played instead of a third set. Three points will be awarded to winner of two straight sets, two points to the winner of one set and the professional tie-break and one point to the winner of one set

Where teams finish with equal points, the winner of the direct-encounter will be declared the winner of the group.

In the event that the situation remains one of equality, the difference between games won and lost, between the two teams, will be taken into consideration. In the event that the situation remains one of equality, the difference between games won and lost, of all the teams will be taken in consideration.
