The Foundation for Human Resources Development has a new Board of Governors. The new president is Annika Galea, currently the HR Director of Hilton Malta and the vice president is Noel Scerri, HR and Administration Director of the Bank of Valletta. The elected members are: Joseph Farrugia, Ivan Refalo, Christine Coleiro and Michelle Bonnici, while the government representatives are Joseph Degiovanni, Joanne Genovese and Raphael Scerri. The Board also has representatives from the trade unions, namely Michael Parnis from the General Workers Union and Jesmond Bonello from the UHM. Board secretary is Godwin Micallef while Joe Gerada heads the executive.

The Foundation, which is a not for profit voluntary organisation, was set up in 1990 as a joint venture between the government and the private sector to promote the highest standards of human resource management and development on the island. It offers consultancy and training services to its members and organises national conferences and in December the Foundation will be awarding companies for their good practices in HRM and HRD. The Foundation’s latest innovation was the launch of a home-grown HR vocational training programme at level 4. The next programme will run in January 2012.
