Rabat A 3

Kirkop Utd 0

Rabat Ajax progressed to the Fourth Round of the FA Trophy without much ado after they dismissed Kirkop United by three goals to nil in a one sided encounter.

In the second match of the afternoon, Rabat Ajax were expected to prevail against 2nd Division side Kirkop United in the fourth encounter of the Third Round of the FA Trophy at the Centenary Stadium.

Kirkop started brightly and after 5 minutes, Theuma let fly from outside the area with the ball going just over the bar. And a minute later, they were unlucky not to take the lead when a dipping shot by Francica slammed against the bar.

Rabat finally took the lead after 26 minutes when from a perfectly flighted corner, Dylan Falzon headed home from close range after the ball had come off the crossbar. Rabat should have doubled on 41 minutes when Zahra went off on a probing run but his effort was cleared off the line by Busuttil.

At the start of the second half, Kirkop had a good free kick by Kerekov which was well saved by Azzopardi. But it was Rabat who doubled and practically secured the tie on 56 minutes when a long ball by Cauchi found Felice who made no mistake, drilling a fine low shot past a hapless Francica.

Rabat put the cherry on the cake in the 75th minute when Francica doubled his tally and made it three for the Ajax after receiving a perfect pass from Smeir.
